Portable Jesus begins a new collaboration with questionable characters... this is where we begin... Yeah, sorry, I'm coming to a realization that I'm bad at blogging. Look, I'll try to work on it. ANYWAY...
"Rhomblog" is not a thought extension. It is not a dumping ground for errant thoughts. That's what twitter is for (@ocularrhombus). I believe it is important to keep at least small boundaries between the different forms of social media. Is this social media? is there a difference anymore between "media" and "social media"?
Anyway, what I meant was that postings here on " Rhomblog" will be more thought out than the postings on the Ocular Rhombus twitter account. These paragraphs were the most drawn out way to describe the difference, especially considering that this whole post is transcribed into a tablet from its original form on the page of a notebook. (The notebook, and the pen used to write in it, were purchased from Muji on Broadway). Read from this page at your own risk! This Rhomblog is the fourth version. The three that came (and went) before it either failed at their purpose or outgrew their purpose. In the case of Rhomblog 3.0, the whole website outgrew its purpose. The filehost died. Projects died. I decided it was best to pull the plug. From the ashes was born this newer, simpler version of www.ocularrhombus.info. The Portable Jesus site went through the same metamorphosis; simpler is better, ultimately, and it's also stylish. You may notice some things no longer being mentioned. "The Singularity" and the "Rhombazine" are dead in the water. There's a couple of music projects that "died" also. I was lucky I could pull what I did from the wreckage of the whole fileden debacle, not that that was the downfall of all the projects, but it was a contributing factor to most. Regardless, these are the first etchings on a tabula rasa. Keep reading, and remember the prayer to the Drowned God of the Iron Islands of Westeros: "What is dead may never die, but rises again harder and stronger." I have noticed that there are some minor issues in the translation of these blog posts from the app in which I am editing them into the actual website. Breaks in text are sometimes ignored. Also: random words are showing up underlined. I'm not sure why that is. I'm sure I'll find other issues as well... keep an eye out. I'm fairly meticulous, and if I catch an error, I will go back and fix it. Apparently also, it pays no attention to when a post was actually made, as this one was made after the one showing up as newer...
Nightmare Engine
02/10/2012 Nuclear drilling for natural gas in Colorado in 1969. "Project Rusilon" had an atomic weapon over twice as powerful as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima at the end of WWII. Its goal was to access a deposit of natural gas under a mountain. Unfortunately, the gas was unusable, as it had become radioactive from the blast. This was about two months after the first landing on the Moon, an event that many people believe was actually filmed on a soundstage funded by Disney and directed by Stanley Kubrick. (I could see this being true, as our desire to win the space-race was immense, but it's almost too ridiculous to believe). The Moon can drive people crazy, it seems... werewolves, and even the word "lunatic" comes from the root word "Luna" the Latin for the principle adjective used to describe the Moon. Aleister Crowley (some have dubbed him "the wickedest man in the world") wrote a book called "The Moonchild" that involved occult groups trying to breed and raise a magical child that would bring about the end of the world and the birth of the next aeon. It seems more like his ambition than a fictional work, considering the amount of occult and sex in his life. He had a room in his "Occult Abbey of Thelema" that he had painted with all manner of horrific depictions of Heaven and Hell. Gruesome, grotesque and explicitly sexual paintings... and he would dope people up on hashish, LSD and opium, and stick them in this room for a day or so as an initiation into his bizarro-sex-cult. (It was probably more so that he and his deranged orgy partners could watch the person freak out that the walls were tearing off their skin or that they were being sodomized by paintings of demons). This was all around 1920 to 1923, the same time that HP Lovecraft was writing his "Dream Cycle" stories that involved the Moon as a location, and creatures that were said to drive people mad simply by looking at them. There's something called the "Outer Space Treaty" that establishes that no one country can claim ownership of the Moon (despite what Newt Gingrich may think). Perhaps it's because at the center of the Moon is a vast "Nightmare Engine" that influences Earthly behaviors and makes us crazy... makes us do things like use nuclear weapons to get at natural gas deposits. Maybe they were searching for a Nightmare Engine right here on Earth... There's an app through with I can edit this blog, and I need to test it's use before I can trust it. This is that test.
